ALL-AGES SHOWS TO OCCUR AT THE BIG DIPPER

RAWK the Inland Northwest, a non-profit ministry organization based in Spokane, Washington, announces that it has arranged two all-ages music events to be held in the Big Dipper, a private club with a long history of presenting live music in Downtown Spokane.  These two shows will occur on consecutive nights, Thursday, September 21 and Friday, September 22, 2000.  Each show will feature a combination of touring bands and local bands.

On Thursday, September 2 1, RAWK will present a punk/ska show featuring Slick Shoes, an accomplished Southern California punk band touring in support of their new album, "Wake Up Screaming." This is their fourth release on Seattle's Tooth and Nail record label.  Slick Shoes was a crowd favorite at Tomfest 2000 in Stevenson, WA.  Many observers have commented that they are playing at a level similar to former label-mates MxPx.  They will be joined by Gonzaga University favorites, 10 Minutes Down, fresh off their summer performance on Van's Warped Tour.  This local ska band is working toward an eventual record label contract, and will be very busy with area shows this fall.

Filling out the bill are Cooter and Jersey.  Cooter is a four piece punk band from New York, which has recently played on the Warped Tour and doing shows with bands such as MxPx, Get Up Kids, and Less Than Jake.  They have songs on compilation discs also featuring Blink 182, Face to Face, Jimmy Eat World, and many others.  Jersey is a female-fronted punk band from the Toronto area.  They were formed in 1996, and are now on Fueled By Ramen Records.  They also have Warped Tour experience.

On Friday, September 22, RAWK is proud to bring Living Sacrifice to Spokane, as part of a tour that includes playing at Portland's North by Northwest event the following night.  Living Sacrifice is a near-legendary old school metal band out of Little Rock, Arkansas.  The band is soon to release a second album on Tooth and Nail Records, which has re-released two previous classic albums done on the defunct Rex Records label.  The new album is rumored to move to a fresher sound, so serious music fans in Spokane will want to get an earful of one of the greatest of "underground" heavy metal bands.

Joining them is a young band out of Wenatchee known as Faith Fracture.  This band is making its first appearance in Spokane.  They will be a good fit for this show, as they play a similar style to Living Sacrifice.  In fact, the lead singer of Faith Fracture has the logo of Living Sacrifice tattooed to his leg!  The other band on this bill is the hardworking local band, Suffice.  This hard-core band has tightened up their sound and presentation, and made a big impression at this year's Tomfest.

Both shows start at 6:3 0 PM, and are scheduled to conclude around 10 PM.  Doors open at 6 PM, and fans are encouraged to arrive early.  Tickets are $8, and available only at the door.
