ALL-AGES SHOW SCHEDULED FOR THE BIG DIPPER
ON SATURDAY,
SEPTEMBER 29, 2001 FEATURING SPOKEN AND REDLINE
RAWK the Inland Northwest, a nonprofit organization based in
Spokane,
Washington, announces that it will host an all-ages concert, on Saturday,
September 29, 2001, at the Big Dipper, Second and Washington, in downtown
Spokane. Doors open at 6:15 PM, with the show starting at 7:00
PM, and
ending around 10:30 PM. Tickets are $8, and available only at
the door.
Headlining is SPOKEN, an accomplished hardcore band from Fayetteville,
Arkansas. This band released its third album on Metro One Records,
Echoes of
the Spirit Still Dwell in 2000. As were their first two albums,
this album
was nominated for a Dove Award, in the hard music category. Spoken
has
played in Spokane twice before, including a RAWK show last October.
They
have developed a reputation as a very hardworking band, which takes
its music
very seriously. This will be one of the most impressive bands
to play a RAWK
show.
Also playing is REDLINE, an accomplished indie rock band from
Nashville.
Redline appeared in a RAWK show late last year. They received
significant
college radio airplay from a single ("Greenland") which appeared on
their
2000 release Supernova. Redline was selected to open for CREED
on some
southern US dates following the release of My Own Prison. They
toured
earlier this year with the artistically acclaimed Tooth and Nail Records
band
PULLER. This is an experienced band, which has toured extensively
for the
past few years.
The local hardcore band, NEITHER BE AFRAID, will return to the
Big Dipper
after a summer season of many local shows, plus a Tomfest appearance.
This
band is a new venture for four "experienced veterans" (although all
are in
their early 20s) of the Spokane music scene, plus a new member from
the
Portland area. The band, described by member Tyler Warnock as
"breakdown hardcore," was formed less than one year ago. They
were very well
received at their first RAWK show in April.
Opening on this night is the young band NEXUS, which has appeared
in the last
two Bobfests, and delivered some of the hardest music heard at those
festivals. The members graduated this past spring from Mead High
School,
according to band member Travis Kolassa. This will be their first
appearance at the Big Dipper.
Enjoy the show. All this positive excitement for a price of $8
- can't be
beat. SPOKEN is very fussy about their sound, so we are
going all out with
our friends from BC West to deliver a kewl show.
